Trigonometric functions are plotted to help the learner understand how the values of the basic functions change with changes in angle. Latitudes and departures or ∆ northings and eastings are discussed, as this is a prime area for various CST tests as well as the FS exam. It is also important to know that in the languages of the exams, the language of textbooks is used, thus the use of “latitudes” and “departures.” We conclude with a discussion of what standard deviation is, how it is calculated, and how it may be understood to use it in data analysis.
