Instrumentation VI: Applications of Angle Measurement [0:25]

$10.00

Problem-solving using compass data is covered in this course. It may cover determining angles from observed bearings, or it may involve the conversion of a magnetic bearing to a true or geographic bearing. In the CST, FS, or even PS exams, the problem may be in the opposite direction, where a geographic bearing may have to be converted to a magnetic bearing. Finally, the determination of declination, given magnetic and true bearing is covered. Running time 25 minutes.

You will learn…

  • How to determine angles in a survey, given the directions measured with a magnetic compass
  • How to understand and apply the declination, consisting of an angle between magnetic and true north, as well as the direction (east or west) and how to interpret that given information
  • The process of analyzing the given data and solving various types of problems involving magnetic declination
