Course Description
The long-standing ALTA/ACSM Standards have been revised, and the new version—the 10th iteration—became effective on February 23, 2021 as the Minimum Standard Detail requirements for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys. This course provides a brief overview of the new 2021 Standards to help those surveyors who may not be as familiar with the Standards as they would like, and to refresh the memory of those who would like to be prepared for the 2021 version. In general, this is not for those who will perform the detail work of ALTA/NSPS surveys in the field or the office.
Pre-Requisite Knowledge
The only prerequisite consideration for this course is an interest in gaining an enhanced understanding of the concepts behind and purpose for the Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participant should expect to be able to:
- Outline the structure of the 2021 ALTA/NSPS Standards
- Explain the ultimate purpose of the ALTA/NSPS Standards
- Identify the varying types of properties that might be the subject of an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey
- Explain the four sources of uncertainty in boundary locations
- Identify the responsibility of the surveyor with regard to records research
- Outline the required elements of the fieldwork and preparation of plat/map of an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey
- Identify the nineteen Table A items
