Robert D. Bailey is an expert in sales and corporate management gained from over 40 years of experience in the sales of land surveying technology (hardware and software) and in the management of sales departments and sales forces. Bob’s experience includes regional sales management, and executive sales team management with several sales reports at Sokkia Corporation, although when he started with the it was known as The Lietz Company. Following that employment, joined Nikon Surveying, beginning as a Sales Manager, and then added sales team responsibilities as he attained executive level. Bob then moved on to Carlson Software where he spent 13 years he began with the recognition of his skills in sales and workforce management. Quickly, he added responsibilities for adding structure to the software development teams and overall company organization.
Bob’s contributions to these companies has included developing sales and distribution channels for company products on the national scale, and especially at Carlson, at a global scale. He helped develop user conferences to enhance the relationship between the producers of technology and the end-users. At Sokkia and Lietz, he introduced a successful telemarketing program, facilitated sales and technical training for the sales staff and managed them, creating successful outcomes. Bob has also recognized the importance of training dealers of the producing companies he worked for and inaugurated or improved the programs at his employers.
Bob’s passion is in the sales process and customer service and support. While he formed his knowledge in his employment, he has buttressed it with his consulting services since his departure from Carlson. He now also speaks at surveying and other professional society meetings on these subjects as sales, the sales process and customer service are often overlooked in most professional service companies including surveying companies.
Bob’s educational background is in engineering and land surveying at Southern Technical Institute. He then spent several years working in the construction industry before his first formal sales assignment at The Lietz Company. Bob also has an Associates of Business Management.
